In this program, Survivor Henry Schachter will share testimony about the extraordinary bravery of both of his parents, who made the difficult decision in 1942 to give him away to a Christian couple to ensure his safety throughout the Holocaust – a journey that took his family from Berlin, to Krakow, then Brussels, where he remained in hiding and was raised as a Catholic child, whilst war was raging across Europe. The telling of his story is also a tribute to the incredible bravery of Belgian Christians, to whom he owes his life.
There is no cost to attend this event -- a donation is optional and would be very much appreciated. Your gift would go directly to HMTC's educational programs, teaching students of all ages and backgrounds about the Holocaust, intolerance, and how to be upstanders.
