Dr. Thorin Tritter, HMTC’s Museum and Programming Director, marked the anniversary of the Evian Conference by speaking about a photograph in HMTC’s exhibition of the hotel where representatives from 32 nations gathered in July of 1938 to discuss how to help German-Jewish refugees who were fleeing Nazi Germany. Dr. Tritter discussed the events that spurred countries to attend this meeting, why they were unwilling to act, and what message that decision sent back to Nazi Germany.
