The Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center of Nassau County (HMTC) held a virtual talk on February 7, 2021, with acclaimed legal scholar and author Philippe Sands, about his new book, The Ratline. In his much-celebrated 2016 memoir, East West Street, Philippe Sands wove together the story of a personal quest to uncover family secrets in the Ukrainian city of Lviv. In his new book, he delves into the life and mysterious death of a Nazi officer, tracing his escape from Germany along “the Ratline” -- the escape route taken by Eichmann, Mengele, and other Nazis -- in what has been described as a factual thriller reminiscent of the works by John le Carré.
