Join us for a special event honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Sunday, February 5, at 4:30pm. This event will benefit The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County and St. John’s Baptist Church of Westbury Food Pantry.
This event will feature two prominent choirs - the Shireinu Choir of Long Island under the direction of Deborah Tartell and Free Will Baptist Church of Freeport Mass Choir under the direction of Reverend Anthony Brown and Reverend Lachrista Brown.
The guest speaker for the evening is Dr. Anael Alston, Nationally Recognized Award-Winning Educator. Born and raised in Bedford-Stuyvesant Brooklyn, Dr. Anael Alston “Dr. A” is currently the Assistant Commissioner for the Office of Access, Equity, and Community Engagement in the New York State Education Department. In this capacity, he informs educational policy across
the state and administers nearly $200 million dollars to help support students across New York State from pre-Kindergarten through college. This includes oversight and management of the historic New York State My Brother's Keeper movement to improve outcomes for boys and young men of color created by President Obama.
