This online class, “Preserving Your Family Story: How to Prepare a Personal Presentation about the Holocaust,” is designed to help the descendants of Holocaust Survivors (2G and 3G) explore, preserve and present their family stories, safeguarding them for future generations.
The class will meet online eight times, every two weeks from January through April. Participants will learn about ways to research, hone and share their family histories in classes that will provide background information and go over easy-to-use steps to produce powerful presentations that connect the past to the present. The goal of the eight sessions is to have a completed draft of a family narrative by the completion of the course.
The class will be led by Helen Turner, HMTC’s Director of Education, and Thorin Tritter, HMTC’s Museum and Programming Director. Guest speakers will include filmmaker Tyler Gidlin, author Meryl Ain, and the executive director of JewishGen.org, Avraham Groll.
Participants should anticipate the need to conduct their own research during the course and will be expected to complete bi-weekly written homework assignments. (College credit may be available.)
Cost: $250 per person
Class meetings are every other Thursday, from January 21 to April 29, from 2:30-4:00 p.m.
(January 21, February 4 & 18, March 4 & 18, April 1,15 & 29)
