A Virtual Program on Monday, June 22 at 1:00pm
The Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center of Nassau County and the Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center (JCC) will be hosting a virtual program “Resilience and Adaptability: Lessons from a Holocaust Survivor as We Approach the End of the COVID-19 Lock-Down” via Zoom on Monday, June 22 at 1:00pm.
Explore the various challenges that we all face in transitioning away from the Coronavirus lockdown with HMTC. Guest speakers include: Holocaust Survivor Ruth Mermelstein, who will draw on her experiences during the Holocaust and discuss the lessons she learned about adaptability and resilience following her liberation from Bergen-Belsen; Alberto Munera, Executive Director of La Fuerza and social service provider who will describe some of the challenges his clients face as they contemplate the lifting of the Corona lock-down; and Michelle Laser, a licensed social worker and the Director of Social Services at The Sid Jacobson JCC, who will provide tools and guidance at this difficult time.
HMTC is proud to work with La Fuerza, an organization founded in 1978 to provide a range of direct services to improve the social, literary, educational, cultural, and economic conditions of the Hispanic-Americans in the City of Glen Cove and its neighboring communities and the Sid Jacobson JCC, a Jewish Community Center on Long Island’s North Shore that is dedicated to serving every aspect of community wellness, regardless of age or ability.
