Statement on Antisemitic Graffiti Found at Columbia University and Hofstra University
The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County (HMTC) condemns in the strongest way possible the recent acts of anti-Semitic graffiti at Hofstra University and Columbia University. The display of Nazi symbolism and all other indicators of hate have no place here or anywhere in the United States. It is critical that we are ever vigilant to take action to counteract anti-Semitism, hate and fear, and to heal the divisions within our society.
These vicious acts of vandalism further emphasizes the need to educate adults and young people on the history of the Holocaust and the lessons for how people should and must conduct themselves today. HMTC is prepared to work with Hofstra University and Columbia University to safely and effectively deal with hateful actions like those that just occurred.
